We left sunny Adelaide on Qantas's new 737-800 James Strong. Celebrating the heritage of Qantas in the 1970's, the aircraft had a brand new fit out.
Exit row, plenty of leg room. Arr in Sydney to pouring rain. While we were travelling on the transfer bus to the international terminal there were suitcases spread all over the road over about 600 metres. Out in the rain, obviously fallen off a trailer in transit between flights. Border Force staff were getting soaked picking them up. Nice.
DFW flight
Left Sydney an hour late, but was subjected to fantastic service from go to whoa. We settled into our Business seat 21E and F on the Nancy Bird Walton. I have to say we have never experienced anything quite so good. The seat was brilliant, adjusted to every position, including laying out flat to form a bed. We were welcomed aboard with a glass of French champagne and warm face towel. Shortly after we were issued our Pyjamas, nice green and gold with a kangaroo motif and nice toiletry packs to freshen up.
Helen and I had pre ordered our meal on-line, Lobster tail. The recommended wine was a Chardonnay, so we were served a Mezze plate to start followed by the Lobster, then a cheese plate to finish off. All washed down with lashings of Chardonnay and a sticky white with coffee at the end. Burp!!! Pardon me.
We then changed into our PJ's and I watched a couple of movies, one I have wanted to see for years, Wag the Dog. Given The Donald's rise in the US, it hits close to home, then a doco on Amy Winehouse.
After six hours sleep arrived at Dallas Fort Worth at 2.00pm. Now a three hour layover before our American Airlines flight to Vancouver.
Vancouver flight
Vancouver flight
Wow what a change, the American Airline flight was packed, and I mean packed. Boy some of these Americans are huge, there were guys that spread over the seats by a mile because they were so fat. The plane had to use the long runway to takeoff because of the extra weight. I don't think I have seen so many young people so big. Anyway good flight, met a Vancouver local who got us really excited about our trip. Bears, Orcas and Salmon.
Arrived at Holiday Inn Downtown suites about 8.45 pm, dinner (burgers), a walk and bed.
